One of the meanings behind a Red Zinnia is a strong family bond. I didn’t realize this until after it was painted. The way that this came to be symbolizes just that! I wasn’t sure what my next piece to paint was going to be, so I handed my phone to my husband and asked him to choose from my photos what he thought I should paint. I have hundreds of pictures to paint on my phone! This was his choice! He had grown this flower, also. He has that gift. I sure don’t, so I paint them to keep them alive. So, unintentionally by me, but intentionally by God, this ended up representing reliance upon family, even in the things like painting a picture. The original is an oil on canvas, size 20” x 24”.
